Timeline and Permitting

The development of the Project will follow a process that includes public consultation, regulatory review, permitting, as well as a review by the OPA.

PUBLIC and AGENCY CONSULTATION

Involvement of government agencies, stakeholder groups and the public at large is an integral component of the planning process.  Consultation with these groups include:

  • Open House
  • Comment Sheet
  • Direct contact with City Power Co-gen representatives
  • City Power Co-gen website

APPLICABLE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT  (“EA”) REGULATION

The proposed project is subject to the “Environmental Assessment Requirements for Electricity Projects” under the Electricity Projects Regulation (Ontario Reg. 116/01).

The proposed new plant is classified as a Category B project (>25 MW) under this regulation and as such it is subject to an Environmental Screening Process.



APPROVALS & PERMITS

  • Wastewater, air and Noise Certificates of Approval required from Ministry of Environment
  • Site plan and building permit approvals required through the City of Toronto.
